The best of a very strong trilogy.

I can see why a lot of people would prefer the first Pusher over the 2nd, but I found this one to be a personal favourite of mine. It's brilliant. I find that it's the most complete and satisfying of the trilogy. Well paced, wonderfully written and Mikkelsen made a fan out of me with this all or nothing performance as a seemingly reprehensible protagonist who somehow manages to undergo a sort of redemption and potential be a useful member to society (or rather his son)

The scene that never gets talked about, the scene in which Tonny goes to visit his mother only to be told she has died is a MAJOR turning point of the film. As much a turning point where he finds out he has a baby son. I think that the pain he feels is so nuanced and so hard to describe that it seems to fly above everyones head. When he does randomly mention his mother's death to another character (I forget which) that he has mother died while att ending to his son, I felt like crying. Her is this guy who I genuinely thought would end up killing his son, and he happens to be the only person who cares about the son, even more than the women.

The father/son theme is strong and fleshed out to the point where it doesn't become gimmicky. It's pretty clear where Tonny's (and Frank's) issues come from. All starts at home.

Great film and my favourite of the Pushers. I liked part 3 too but the first two are exception.

I though I would like the 2nd part the most of the trilogy, it ended up being the one liked the least. Don't really know why. It just didn't have the same effect on me as the first one did.
But I can totally see why someone would find this one the best.

Oh, and by the way, Mads Mikkelsen is one of my favorite actors, so it wasn't the swap of main characters that bothered me.

His name is Mads Mikkelsen..not Michael Madsen..fool.
