Ass for the lack of gay scenes in the orgy, it's known that females are more flexible in their sexuality than men, studies show they have a bisexual arousal patters, they only decide to be with men or women. Then there is also a fact they are more emotional, tender and beautiful - wich makes them less digusted at sexual contact with their own sex.
That can maybe explain why the parfume didn't make straight men have homosexual sex as it did with women. But granted, there still would probagbly be proper homosexuals men in a crowd that large, but i think the director didn't include them too much becouse it's not the mose aesthetic thing to see (at least for the majority of the audience)

sharei noticed the same thing in the movie; i don't think the lack of it had to do with any prudish sensibilities (if so, would there really have been an orgy scene like that in the movie? :o) i thought maybe it had to do with that the perfume was the embodiment of THE perfect woman, basically a super-concentrated mish-mash of female pheromones, lol!
yeah, it inspires pure love in general, but maybe when it comes to erotic "love", female pheromones = man-on-woman and woman-on-woman, more so than man-on-man. what would have been really cool, is if the main character collected the scents/pheromones of women and men deemed unique or beautiful, and what the effects of a perfume that represented the perfect woman and man comingled into one would be...eh, or maybe they'd cancel each other out

i saw the movie on dvd in the US; so it was the full-length uncut version, maybe? it happened after JB was brought up from his jail cell to be executed in front of the whole town. he had put some of the perfume on himself and was able to bewitch the entire gathering of townspeople (thus evading execution). it culminated with everyone taking their clothes off and having sex; looked like it must have been a pain in the butt to coordinate!
