Not too bad

OK, rarely do I rent a dvd of a film I never heard of, and likely it went straight to video anyway, but I was quite impressed. Now this is no Ong-Bak, but it sure kicks the crap outta Bloodsport.

The story is a typical revenge fantasy with the amnesiac hero who slowly remembers his past, a brutal one at that. But with a movie like this, who gives a rats ass how good the story is, or if it were to even have one. Although that would be a great bonus but lets face it, we're here for the ass whoopery, and man do we get it. By the truckload.

The actor who plays the lead hero, I cant remember his name right now, but he is a competent martial artist and given a better vehicle, could become a small time action star. Or make him the main enemy in a bigger movie to fight a Jet Li popular martial artist. He has some form of charisma, that despite how brutal he is/was, we still wanna keep rooting for him and that's usually a hard task to get away with.

The only thing I can really say thats plain out of place or just silly about the movie is the ridiculous over the top ending. A massive gunfight that even John Woo couldnt have made somewhat believable. It was like he was shooting at everyone with the precision of a sniper and they were returning fire like Stevie Wonder at 1000 paces. Ludicrous, but mildy entertaining finale.

So if you can bear with the crazy ending, and enjoy brutal ass whippin's. then you could deffinately do worse than Pit Fighter. But for some good old leave your brain on holiday fun, check it out. You may not be dissapointed.
