'In the Company of Men' in Reverse; and Much More Satisfying

In my experiences, I have found that it is pairs or groups of men usually plot to see if they can seduce, bed, and then "blow off" any woman they choose. For that, see "In the Company of Men" (that movie was disgusting in my opinion, and yes, I'm a man). With "Getting Played", it is the women who get the opportunity to do the same thing, with much better results.

The plan seems simple enough: get to know the man, share good times with him, get him into the bedroom, and videotape the sex that follows. It almost works for two of them - almost. However, the man targeted knows about the plot, but the women don't know that he knows. I guess that 2 of the women forgot that video cameras can be unplugged, or, that videotapes can be removed and replaced from video cameras. Thus the trick bacfires, and the one woman who didn't want to take part in the contest winds up with the man targeted by all three - even though he shares that he knew about the plot that her friends cooked up, and that he went along with it anyway. To me, that was actually quite satisfying - it's always good to see a somewhat "happy" ending to such a cute little movie as this.

Overall, I would call "Getting Played" very easy to watch and enjoy. Except for the premise, it was definitely nothing like "In the Company of Men" (the harsh overtones of that movie were lacking here, and that's a good thing. However, I believe that there may have also been a lesson here: if anyone, man or woman wishes to find that "perfect" or "special" someone, resorting to childish games of sexual conquest isn't the way to do it. Take note.

Have you seen "The Shape of Things"?

Only the shell, the perishable passes away. The spirit is without end. Eternal. Deathless.
