'Boo, Zino + The Snurks'?!?

Who thought that would be a good title for the English-language dub? Can anyone tell me? What was wrong with Back To Gaya? Distributors, I ask you...

Thank goodness for the "Ignore" function.

I like 'Back to Gaya' much more than 'Boo, Zino & the Snurks'.

Because, sadly or otherwise, the posters would get defiled to remove the last 'a' in the title. Typical schoolboy humour.

Despite the title change, it will always be "Back To Gaya" for me.
I just wish they'd release it to the USA already. *sigh*

I nearly didn't watch it because of the title...it sounds so wet.

Then I did watch it and I'm glad because its a very refreshing, quite exciting and happy little film.

Very nice animations and cool characters.

But the title is cringe making.

I picked this up at the vid store as a second choice
back up (was actually going to get "Kronk's New Groove",
of all things). The name was not a selling point, let
me tell you - why name the movie after the (initially)
comic-relief villains? Granted, "Boo, Zino and the
Snurks" wouldn't have been much better, and "Return
to Gaya" would have sounded like a sequel.

Pleasant surprise. I joked to my husband beforehand
"Judging from the box, the 'Ferngully' people have
some royalties pending." This was better than that.
When was the last time you saw an animated movie for
kids that included a discussion about free will?!

My favorite part (minor spoiler) was when Zino
(big dumb hero) is being chastised by Boo
(brainy, cowardly sidekick), and he (Zino)
retorts, "Yeah, I'm a muscleheaded moron - don't
you think I KNOW that?! I was born this way, I
can't help it," or words to that effect. Again,
an animated action-hero type with self-awareness?
How did this get made? Oh, right - outside 'the industry'.

I agree totally with you. I loved the movie and ordered it online ( had to cause I couldn't find it anywhere ) I was really surpriesed that is had so many bad reviews. cause I'm not as sophisticated as I thought. I wish there was more sites on it other then the back to gaya homepage I would like to see that redone in english becasue the home page is a lot of fun.

I think some marketing idiot thought the title "The Snurks", the title I saw it under would get some sort of rub off recognition from clueless parents thinking of "The Smurfs" or their rip-off "The Snorks". It seems to me "Back to Gaya" is a much more marketable title. Knowing nothing about it, I would assume it had some simple eco-friendly message for kids.

I have mixed feelings about this, and I'd have to agree with the other fellow here that gave it 6 out of 10. It has an interesting premise. Based on a TV series (anyone ever heard of it?), the 6 characters, 3 heroes and 3 villains are brought into "the real world" accidentally be an evil mastermind. Here, they are miniature and recognized as characters from a TV show. In order to get home they seek out their "creator" and must stop the evil genius. What makes this interesting is that the characters attempt to break free of their stereotyped roles in the TV show discovering that here their actions are no longer scripted and they discover free will.

This movie absolutely sucked, however the kids loved it so much they watched it about 3 times in one day.

There was nothing funny about this movie, and when my mother-in-law brought it home from blockbuster, I just new this piece of crap had been collecting dust on the discount rack, not to mention a few household pets may have hated the movie as well judging by the excessively gnawed original case it was in....i'm suprised the dvd was still intact.

The funniest thing about the movie was my wife's reaction to viewing the case. It was apparent by her facial grimacing that she had never heard of this atrocious piece of scat and also questioned why she doesn't remember it being released in theaters.

My wife pretty much summed up the whole Snurks experience in a few simple sentences: what the *beep* is this sh**....that cheap a** bi***....where's the real movies at.
