This film is an insult to SEALs everywhere.

When i first saw the begining of the preview at the theaters, my heart was pounding. The only thing i had running through my mind is ''HOO YAH!!! A NAVY SEAL MOVIE WITH VIN DIESEL!!!!! Then when it started showing the rest of the preview, part of me died. Me, i'm going in the SEALs myself. I'm making a career out of it whether you think so or not. I really don't want to see this.

If you want to watch a relly good SEAL movie, watch Tears of the Sun. It's one of my personal favorites.

A guy gets on the MTA in downtown LA and dies. Think anybody'll notice? -Vincent

This is NOT a movie about Navy Seals! The guy in question just happens to be a Navy Seal. This is aimed as being a KID'S movie. They aren't going to really show what it means to be a Seal in a KID'S movie. This movie is NOT about tactics and war. It's about a guy who has always dedicated his life to the military finding out what it's like to be a part of a family. This movie is not aimed at Navy Seals but at kids. It's a family movie *rolls eyes*

Capitalize SEAL boy. They ain't animals. They are SEALs.

I'm not a boy ;) Sorry about the SEALs thing. I don't really know much about the different sections of the military outside what I've seen in movies and on the news. I just didn't realize it was all capitilized. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. I was in the service myself but not a SEAL. A SEAL would take that as an insult though in lower-cased letters.

Yeah, that got a laugh out of me too. I might not know much about the military, but I do know that you don't just up and decide I'm going to be a Navy SEAL today. Only the best of the best are chosen. Being a Navy SEAL can certainly be someone's ultimate goal, but to say 'I'm going into the SEALs and i'm going to make a career out of it no matter what you say' when you haven't even done basic training yet is beyond cocky because it's such an exclusive group. To just assume that you'll be one of the 'chosen ones' is a bit egotistical.

reply

cocky ... egotistical? Cloud do you even know what it takes to get through the toughest military training in the world? Do you think people go in saying oh boy i hope i can do this? No to get through BUD/S, MFF, and SQT you have to know youre going to do it. To me it sounds like he is driven. I too wish to be a SEAL and will do whatever it takes to do it. They will have to kill me to get me out of training and by the way the other guy talks it sounds the same for him as well. So for you to say that he is being cocky and egotistical ... well id have to say that you are wrong and we need more people like him who aspire to be the best. Check yourself next time.

Yes, I do understand that it takes alot of work, training, etc to be a Navy SEAL. What I'm saying is that to have not even yet begun basic training and claiming your going to be a Navy SEAL before you even start your military training is cocky. This guy just assumes he is going to be a SEAL. That IS cocky and egotistical, IMHO. To just assume that you are going to be the best of the best means you must have a huge ego. I have no problem with someone saying, I'm going to go into the military and my ultimate goal is to be a Navy SEAL. That is totally different what this guy said. He just assumed he'd be one. You should never assume anything...especially with such an elite group. It's fine to have goals and to be ambitious, but don't get cocky about it especially before you even start.

Interesting. I did not know they took the capitalization so seriously.

I don't think the movie was an insult, though. Very unrealistic, yes. But it's a comedy.

It is an acronym that's not yet ready to be a word yet. Someday, though, it will join the ranks of words that used to be acronyms but nobody knows what they stand for anymore, such as "scuba" and "laser".

Christ, if the SEALS take offense in this I'm worried about the SAS...

Adam, if you were worked as hard as they did for that title, you would take it seriously too!

"SCUBA" stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

"LASER" stands for Light Amplified by Stimulated Emitted Radiation.
