Black Guy?

OMG! Whoever the African American male is that took this role should be ashamed of himself. Like the saying goes "All money is not good money" and he should have just said NO! This movie sucked and I'm disappointed I sat thru it.

I agree. I know its hard for black actors to get decent roles but they should really think about some of the roles they take.

The world cannot end today because it is already tomorrow in Australia

I'm not following here? How was his role any different than any of the others?...(besides the stars like Hopper and the other main girl)...

Are you serious? Will Smith, Denzel Washington, The Rock, Vin Diesel, Morgan Freeman, Laurence Fishburn, Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Chris Rock, Martin lawrence, Earl Jones.....When was the last time you seen a Japanese actor with a decent role?

reply

You're just pissed that for once, the racist in the bunch happened to be black. I've lived in London for a few years now, and I see angry young black males like the character in this film everyday and quite frankly, they scare me. Take the chip off your shoulder and love your neighbour.

American?????

This guy is British.
Reminds me a Bush joke about him visiting some African country and commenting that there are lots of African-Americans around. :)

reply

"African American"?? Geezz...this politcal correct stuff has gone too far. It's okay to say black (take that as your offical permission from a black person lol) You have to be American to be African American. That lame ass wanna-be rapper was English.

yeh guys the stringing up piece was even further over the top than acceptable. that's just ridiculously racist to put in the film.

reply

sometimes i attack afros for being too sensitive but this movie is focking racist.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

I don't think it's political correctness (but your point is well received). This is a regionalism. In American English, they use African American. In Canadian English, "Black" is standard since said Black person is sometimes neither African nor American. The same regionalism manifests for generic terms for the indigenous American nations. In Canada, First Nations is used, in Australia, Aborigines, in the USA, American Indian. Of course, naming their specific nationality is preferred in all cases but when a generic term is needed we fall back on these.

I think he portrayed the stereotype perfectly, and since every character was a stereotype, what's the problem?

reply

first of all an actor should take any role he can get when he is trying to make it. so the discredit goes to the producers writer and director for writing him so stereotypical. but too too much to have him hanged. that's just racist and unacceptable.

Black stereotypes are majorly true and real. You shouldn't mix feral beasts like that guy in the movie with normal humans.
