Basically at the end of the movie (in the car) she can not cope with the fact that she does not love Alan, and her only true love just left. They both know they are not in love, so they begin to cry.

She gets out of the car because she cannot be around this man who she has absolutely nothing in common with-- It's scary that they are going to be married.

She walks away from the car. This is just one of those movies where it's up to you what she does at that point. Maybe she quits the whole Memphis game and returns to Russia with her child. Maybe she gets back in the car and lives her unhappy life, neglected by Alan.

I noticed that the end of the film is probably paying homage to Francois Truffaut's "400 Blows". Both films end in a very long tracking shot of the main character running away and then freeze frame on the character in mid-exit. This moment leaves the audience to wonder "What will he/she do?". Also, both films are essentially about a person who is stuck. Their conflict exists between them and the environment they live in. Tension builds into an ambiguous running away.

I felt she came to realize the magnitude of everything that happened with the trio she exited the car crying. She was wrong as he was wrong the further she walked the more she became who she really was. They were, what they were, him honking the car horn. The car horn did not bother her as this was his way of showing affection, he was crying also the car was right there for her as she transformed from sad to being ok with marrying him. She would have had to get back into the car at some point witch is why i don't think it is indicating she is leaving him.

Laura discussed the problem of getting the ring to fit, speaking of tying string around her finger so they could fit it better. I thought this meant that she had accepted the marriage proposal (Why not get at all that money! as someone in the film said")and marriage only made her feel more trapped. She wanted to run away but had no where to run to.
