Misogyny

This is the most misogyinistic film that I have ever seen. Let's see;

Lilith is imperfect and banished from the garden of eden for thinking herself Adam's equal and refusing to submit to him like a cowering dog.

Then, when she finally redeems herself, it is because she has submitted to a group of men and done what they told her to do!

I didn't see it like that. I thought it was very intresting.

I grew up with the idea that women are equals to men, which is not a novel or socially accepted concept. However, I didn't see Lilith as giving in to a group of "men" to do their bidding. I viewed it more as the fact she came to care about humanity in general, not men in specific. She worked with a group of both men and women to banish an evil brought about by someone toying with the magic or whatever you want to call it that exists within her after her capture following the death of Shaw's son.

It is as if through the ages somehow after capture and release with tallis in her system to bring about the loss of much of her memory, she had time to actually get to know the human race and care about them whereas in the beginning, she was simply tossed out because she pissed off Adam for failing to submit to him, which in my opinion, all women should do. We are not here to do the bidding of men and neither are men here to do our bidding. The sexes are equal or at least that is how I view a perfectly balanced world.

I think the human race realizing that they need the non-submissive woman to save them all isn't exactly sexist. It's more she got over being pissed at Eve (who was both weak, and an idiot. Adam would have been much better off sticking with her).

The writers of this movie didnt come up with the story of Lilith. Its a tale thats been around for an extremely long time. All they did was take the story of Lilith and make the Queen of Demons into a heroine. Which though im a shiri fan and the movie was aiight, im kind of upset that they destroyed the story of Lilith. Lilith is a bad ass heartless bitch and she should just stay that way.
Anyhow i didnt view it like that either. She had been erased of her memory and started new by being good and staying good. The Faith just happened to be full of men and she accepted their quest b/c she understood she was the only one who could stop what was happening.

I don't eat animals. =D Woo.

Uh, sorry, but that 'chauvinism' was 'built' into biblical tales about all this sort of stuff. The entire story of Adam and Eve is prejudicial against women, but this was common at the time. Are you EVEN familiar with the Bible?

Also the "Faith" is an order of men, which are what biblical religious orders usually are (or at least the traditional version of them).

You think that modern notions of equality have been around for thousands of years (they have NOT) and the story of Lilith is a very OLD ONE. Did you NOT know this?

Aside from the sarcasm, he's totally right.
The bible is sexist, it's sexist because it's been messed with by man.

also, A lot of these `ancient stories` were carried through from even more ancient times and adopted by the bible. it's stolen things from Paganism and the Egyptian Book of the Dead. amongst many.
This is how religion works, there's no accountability, Alexandria burnt down and the Vatican are secretive.

as for equality between the sexes...
there's no equality amongst MEN, how'd u expect a perfect society to spring up out of that during any era. everyone's fighting for their own little piece of self esteem. it aint battle of the sexes.

The deepest truth is contained within our relationship with nature. Not each other. Some metaphors are harder to mess with.

She's also missing the obvious point is that the history of Western (and Eastern) civilization is itself sexist. The Sexist bent of the bible and other written works is not a 'fiction' created by 'evil misogynistic men'. It was a reflection of the inequality of every day life in the ancient times.

Anyone who doesn't realize that for centuries, women were 2nd class citizens, doesn't know anything about history. To understand history is to understand the benefits we have NOW in living in a more enlightened culture where women, minorities, the handicapped, etc. have equal rights to adult males.

But to decry the depiction of it, especially in something as ancient as either the Old or New Testaments of the Bible, shows an incredible lack of education or understanding.
