I thought this movie Rocked! So many layers going on...

I am not a big fan of Jennifer Garner... and yes I agree with another poster that her upper lip was distractingly over-pumped... however, I happened to come across this movie today and I really liked it.

There were so many layers of relationships, emotions, friendships, changing of those relationships, emotions, and friendships, it was ever changing but in a really good, well paced, and understandable way (like it might be in real life).

Jennifer Garner played the perfect, "perfect", fiance, simple, trust-worthy to a fault, perhaps misguided and naive.

Juliette Lewis really brought it together with her quirky, zen, character who had NO clue how to parent.

Timothy Olyphant came through as a very, very likeable guy even after his shallow, insensitive portrayal of a gross ladies man.

I was rooting for Sam Jaeger's (Dennis) role the entire movie.

And of course Kevin Smith (Sam) rocked it out of the house as usual.

Bravo!

The movie was nicely multilayered and did have some interesting characters and sub plots but..too many of the characters were silly stereotypes including juliette lewis. I'm also so sick of kids acting like brats and everyone acts like that's the norm. No, 3 year olds are not normally allowed to destroy stereo equipment or throw CDs all over the floor. With more realistic people it had a shot at being a good little movie. I think they were going for a rom-com but it was not adequately written for that.

Agreed, it was a very pleasant surprise. I thought it would be extremely cheesy but it had a sensitivity and heart to it I didn't expect.

Jennifer Garner does annoy me on screen but she seems like a badass in real life, so I liked her overall in this.
