It was my opinion that it was her husband that was the contributing factor in the spread of the virus. Lucy Liu's character had no idea that the disease was AIDS but that people were just getting sick ("It's happening again" was what she said as she tried to prepare her family to leave. She also refered to this being the third time that this thing has happened).
Improper cleaning of the equipment also contributed to the spread of the disease. It was said that the machine was cleaned once a week in the film.
But Lucy Liu's husband in the film was too weak, physically, to stop her as she left him at the end of her segment. He was always hooked up to a blood sack everytime you saw him in the film. I thought "Maybe he gave his blood too, and used the machine also. He's always hooked up to blood. They had to leave for the third time because of something like this. He's the cause of this."
My verdict: Lucy Liu's husband is patient zero for this scenario.
Diane is dead, miss her, miss her.
