Grim Fandango

Am I the only one that was picking up a lot of Grim Fandango similarities? Sasha being a lot like Salvador Limones, and the coach reminded me a LOT of Glottis... Not to mention the humour, which I think is hilarious. There are some parts where I literally found myself laughing at the computer monitor.

Both are kick ass games ... Heh.

After playing Psychonauts I decided to play Grim Fandango, which I finished today. I think that the humor is similar in approach, i.e. it seems like Tim in both games basically tried to take a normal concept (the noir redemption tale and the immature-kid-becomes-hero tale) and made is topsy turvy with the setting and characters (the Mexican Dia de los Muertos setting and the Psychic element, not to mention all the kids and their quirks). But other than that, I didn't see too much similarity: the humor in Psychonauts was more laugh-out-loud funny and quirky, while the Grim Fandango humor was much more down-beat and subtle. Not to say any one style was better, as both worked in the context of their stories/games incredibly well. I loved both games.
