According to the Zonadvd web site 'ALATRISTE' will be out on DVD on Frbruary 7th 2007.I don't have any more details other than the release date.I'm so happy about this as I had my doubts that I'd ever see 'ALATRISTE' at all!
I'm sure that Rogormaradan will have more information soon for all of us 'ALATRISTE' addicts who can't get to Spain!!
I hope that there is extra footage icluded in the film--I'll quite happily sit through three hours or more of Viggo as 'Diego Alatriste'!
I haven't found that date in any official sources, so it can be used while there isn't confirmation. Sounds a bit early, but gaps between film release and dvd release are getting shorter all the time.
There is no '2 ending'. What you can see at youtube is the ending of the film, downloaded from the internet, with the music originally written for it superimposed on it by some guy from his own PC rather than the final choice, 'La madrugá'. There is no indication that the dvd extras will include such a thing. Maybe it would be a goodwill gesture towards Roque Baños, who was quite upset at his music not being used, but I'd be surprised if this is done. You can hear his piece on the OST cd already.
I hope the film can be released in the UK before the dvd is available in Spain. That would increase the possibility of the Spanish release having English subtitles, and so it would be nice for foreign buyers to get a Spanish copy, as I doubt that the foreign copies feature two discs.
2 discs. Subtitles in English, French and Spanish, audiocommentary from Agustín Díaz Yanes, 3 documentaries (one of them the National Geographic special we already know), photo gallery, trailers...
