bad reviews.. whats up with that????

ok, i know many people will disagree with me, but just listen to what i have to say:

first of all, most of you say that this movie is just not funny and is ridiculous. well NEWSFLASH! its a disney movie, its made for children and people young at heart. don't expect a witty humour only undertood by adults, this is goofy humour intended for kids and those young at heart.

so all of you who critisize this movie until theres none left saying that it's stupid, well all i got to say is, that it was meant to be a goofy humour comedy remake, not a drama movie.

in my opinion, there are many, many more movies intended for adult audiences that are way worst and have comedy that just is plainly not funny, so you should critisize those movies, not innocent kids' movies by disney.

sorry if i offended anyone, but it drives me nuts to see people say that this movie sucks. I am 17 and young at heart, and i must say i totally injoyed watching this movie.

Yea but why can't a movie about a man who turns into a dog have more serious character development and and... dramatic dialogue that makes one ponder life!!! We must demand that our children be turned into adults by at least age nine.

Just kidding for those who have their underwear two sizes two small....

Despite the bad ratings I will probably watch it just because it seems like a fun movie. Even though Tim Allen is kind of a hack...

Check out the second chance, powerful, inspiring movie

Thank you, everybody! I am a male in my early twenties, and I found this to be a great movie. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that I went in expecting A DAMN KID'S DISNEY MOVIE, NOT FRIGGING SHAKESPEARE! I can't understand how so many people can think this movie is so horrible unless they went in expecting something this movie was never meant to be. I could understand many people not liking the movie, but not THAT many people thinking it is absolute garbage. Leads me to believe it is much more likely that none of them bothered to actually SEE the movie before judging it.

This wasn't made for an Oscar you know?

Thank you! One of the best ways of wording it I've ever seen.

I am perplexed my the low ratings too. I had enjoyed watching this movie. It was an entertaining movie.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel... just pray it's not a train.

My main problem with this movie, is that it's dumb, i hear you say, it's a disney movie for kids. Kids aren't idiots, and disney should at least treat the people they're aiming their movie to with some respect. I mean there are loads of movies for kids which are intelligent and funny. Pixar being the best example as there's always a lesson to be learned there for adults and children, there humour can be for adults or children, they often parody other movies in little scenes and the characters are always funny entertaining characters which you have some kind of affection for. Shaggy dog, well what the hell does it do for kids? There's no lessons the humour is sub par, and by sub par i mean ridiculous and pathetic there is no reason to see this movie especially when you got a whole list of kids movies which are a thousand times better, if you have to show them a disney movie, show them a classic, like lion king, the emotion in that when Mufasa died was immense, or how about Dumbo, kids would really feel for dumbo. This movie is balls, and is a pure sell out, there's no head to it.

There's no lessons

What are you talking about? It had a lesson. It was a recycled, over-used lesson, but what would you expect from a Disney movie? The lesson was to appreciate your family. Tim Allen's character didn't appreciate his family, and due to it he started to lose them. As a dog, he got a chance to see the effect his neglect (even though unintentional) was having on his family, and thereby he grew and matured as a result of the experience. I can respect your criticism of the movie, but don't make things up as a way to make the movie look bad. I will give you one thing, though. The lesson did come off seeming very subtle, almost like it was just a way to keep the movie together. Still, there most certainly was a lesson.

Ok, Citizen Kane it ain't, but I thought it was harmless fun! It was wholesome family fare that anyone could watch with their kids without any fear of anything inappropriate or offensive appearing, and that's a rarity these days, isn't it?

My problem is I don't know how to rate it. I really enjoyed it, but should my rating reflect my enjoyment or what I feel is a measure of its quality? (As if such a subjective thing like "quality" can truly be measured.) I'd give RDJ a 10 all to himself though for making me laugh so hard - his ego can't be that bad if he can willingly take a part like that!

Of COURSE the cheque is good!

i'm 42 and I thought that the movie was hilarious,, I enjoyed every minute and laughed my ass off, I also own the original b/w version as well.

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite

The rating is low because this is a poor movie. Where the original was amusing and quirky, this is just stupid. Humour - and there isn't much of it - is often vulgar. It relies on silly sight gags and purile jokes. Not a comedy, in my book.
