Just a Very Forgettable Film.

Just a very forgettable film.

The gunplay was excessive and unrealistic.

The characters were shallow and one-dimensional.

This film won some kind of award?????

That's nice. Now let's see what kind of film YOU would make given the same resources. The unfortunate thing is that there are a lot of viewers who base their experiences on major motion pictures and are unable to fathom the appeal of low/micro budget indies. Go back to your Pirates of the Caribbean mentality of bigger is better.

Dr. Kila Marr was right. Kill the Crystalline Entity.

The Other Side actually sucks though. A movie is about telling a story remember, all this movie did was destroy itself with lame imitations of other bigger budget films. A lot of low-budget movies have done great jobs at telling a story(Halloween, Blair Witch Project).

He's just a troll looking for attention. I'll bet he's 10 years old.

George Romero's original "Night of the Living Dead" and Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outer Space" both share similar plots..

Romero's work is art. Wood's work is comedy.

I also cite "Tourist Trap" for an excellent low budget film.

"Blair Witch Project" comes to mind. Real believeable people.

The movie "Altered" shows what can be done on low budget..

"Budget" is not the issue. The issue is TALENT - or lack of it.

reply

Talent, eh? Yes, the movie did win some awards, actually: It premiered at Slamdance, won Best Feature at ShreikFest, and won Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Nathan Mobley) at IFFYNTX (Independent Film Festival of North Texas). It then got bought for a limited theatrical and DVD release. Feel free to look at any of the external reviews, they seem to have a different opinion than you.

The gunplay was supposed to be excessive and unrealistic. The characters were anything but shallow. If you can make anything better for 15 thousand bucks, please let us know.

Off of this movie, the filmmaker's got a big budget movie greenlit called 'Dance Of The Dead'. It just premiered at South by Southwest to rave reviews, go see for yourself.

It always makes me laugh when people use the word unrealistic to describe a work of fiction, the key word fiction it's not a documentary it's a genre film. A film about a guy escaping hell, and you want it to be realistic. Geez dude, really?

reply

Yeeah! TOTALLY realistic. (hmmph!) From a brief synopsis, I was expecting a movie that would be fodder for MST3K. I was pleasantly surprised, and pleased. I didn't look it up on IMDb until I finished watching, and was amazed by the fact that he did this for $15k.

Worth your time to watch.

It’s an excellent example of talent and drive over budget. Forget the tech stuff and look at the level of energy in every frame. Mr. Bishop hit an energy level that 99% percent of pros (let alone amateurs screaming on imdb.com) couldn’t reach no matter what the budget.

That’s something to admire.
