Hey folks!Did anybody really see this movie???Because at this time, it came to my country on DVD...I cannot believe that something like this could ever be on DVD...this was one hell of a flick, tottaly dumbed...CGI sucks, no-plot, weird actors, no logic...i still do not get what the hell was this movie, some giant bloodsuckers worms trying to kill people in some countryside with cows...this is the worst movie i have ever seen...damn, this can enter the Hall of Shame, where is un-human Uwe Boll...

I was an extra in this film. You should have been on set. Hilarious experience.

Yeah I did see it. My mate hired it out. I could have fell asleep so many times. It was that boring.

William Forsythe and Robert Miano cant be that for a sci fi freebie.

I actually saw this when it premiered on Sci-Fi and I didn't think it was that bad. It had an ok story, the acting was pretty good (even Rachel Hunter) and the creatures were actually pretty well done and creepy.

It's only fault is the same problem with the majority of movies now a days: WE'VE SEEN THIS PLOT BEFORE. Not many original ideas left in Hollywood.

I really loved that they had the balls to kill off the obnoxious little rich kid, that was hilarious and shocking at the same time.

Why do you people watch these movies some of us love these low budget creature movies if you dont like em dont watch em.

reply

I'm watching it on SciFi Channel (US-based satellite TV) right now. I agree that it's mindless rot which fails in almost every category on which films may be judged (although the dinner scene with the boy and his grandparents (?) is good cinema, that scene stands alone - the rest of the film is crap).

Also, the monster doesn't remind me of any larva I've ever seen in several college zoology classes. I'm surprised they got Forsythe and Rachel Hunter to act in this abortion.

"Larva" makes "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" look like an Oscar nominee.

I'm watching it right now on the Sci-Fi channel on a dull Saturday afternoon.

...I really must upgrade my cable to something with more channels.

I'm watching it now because we got a box set of Disaster movies but instead of the Earthquake one, they managed to record a horror movie on it and we were told to take that one out and dispose of it. So of course I've taken one!

So after reading the reviews and such, I should probably just stop watching really...

This movie was not that bad. I kinda enjoyed it, but then again I love cheesy B flicks. If you like movies like that then this is one for you. However, if you think you're a film critic, then pass it by. It's all in fun.

skid, thats happened to me.I bought fire and earthquake in one pack. But to my confusen ther was no earthquake and this film instead.Anyone know why?

reply

Yes, I did actually see this!!!! Can you beLIEVE that?!!!!

I'll post a bit of the article I wrote about it. But I will say this in response to some of the the reviews and board comments. I have seen, Christ, at least 10,000 movies, probably more. And if seeing 1,000 gave someone the proper amount of experience to s#@!can LARVA, I guess I'm reeeeally qualified. It is what it is, people: a great B-movie, a fun romp, beautifully shot (that 'yellow' look it has is called a lens filter, gave the film a look alternating between beauty and sickliness, the whole point of it, I believe). William Forsythe's mere presence gives it credibility--the man can do no wrong. He's done it all and always has a good time with what he's doing. The goofy airheadedness in the form of Vince Vantresca and Forsythe's sarcasmo attitude made it a truly merry experience. Yes, I said merry. Regarding the special effects, sometimes you just have to use your imagination and not have CGI spell it all out for you in perfect form. We have James Cameron for that.

Look, if you're searching for Shakespearean Horror, try Kubrick, Lynch, or Argento. Films like LARVA don't pretend to be anything they're not. But you're not going to find SUSPIRIA-class horror on Syfy Creature Saturdays. And I'm damned glad for that. Days filled with movies like LARVA, KAW, any movie starring giant insects, spiders, or creatures of the deep... these days remind me of the days of growing up with Hammer creature double features in the 70s and 80s, and indie channels in the 90s.

Long live B-Horror!
