Sometimes Ted just doesn't listen to a woman

I was watching the Tenessa episode today. She had medium length hair that was wavy and she told Ted her one requirement for her haircut was that it be low maintenance. She didn't want to have to blow dry it or straighten it out, with two small kids she didn't have the time.

So what does Ted do, he gives her a haircut and takes it up shorter, and then blow dries it straight and even flat irons it in places. Why didn't he show her how to style the haircut with her natural waves? Why show her a style that is the exact opposite of what she asked for?

She loved the cut and style, and it did look good on her, but you know she'll never wear it that way in her everday life.

I'm not always crazy about the cuts Ted does, but this one was good. It's a pretty low maintenance cut and style, it can be worn straight or curly. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to dry and straighten and that's very low maintenance IMO..

You seriously think that he was able to blow dry and flat iron her hair in only 10 minutes? I totally doubt it.

I think you missed my point. She specifically said she didn't want a style she had to straighten or blow dry. So why did he do the exact opposite of what she said? I understand the style could be worn both straight and curly, but I would have much rather seen how the style looked with her natural waves since that would be the way she was going to style it herself.

To be fair, I can blow dry and flat iron my hair in 10 minutes or less and its a higher maintenance style than hers.

I think he gave her a style that can be worn curly if she air dried it but also polished and straight if she wants to take the time. Of course he was going to do the more complicated version of styling for the reveal.

Usually I think he does do a good job of listening to a woman and what she wants. Usually. I have seen him back off because a woman didn't want to let go of her long hair, or she didn't want it a certain color that he was suggesting. More than once he has agreed to simply do some trimming or layering in the end, even when it was clear that she would have looked better with what he initially wanted to do.
