(Spoiler) Where have I seen that drug plot before??

I loved this movie. I had a great time, and was laughing almost all the way. The bit about the drugs being fake peeved me though. I swear I've seen that some plot mechanism recently elsewhere, but can't place it. Anybody got any ideas???

Thanks!

Perhaps from Eurotrip - they went into the Coffee Shop and ate what they thought were hash brownies.

Not really the same but...

You're right. I recall seeing a film about a large family where one or two members wound up inadvertently taking some heavy drugs. Was generally a comedy, and may have been a foreign-language film.

It was a fantastic movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it-- but it was kind of like the Jewish version of a short film I saw last year called "Family Tree" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338604/#comment) which was directed by Shrek's co-director Vicky Jenson (and which was also very good). It was about a Thanksgiving dinner gone awry-- and included a drug-like, hallucinatory sub-plot.

I don't know if you may have seen it, but there was a foreign film called Go For Zucker (2005) (in German, Alles auf Zucker!). It didn't have a very wide release, but it was a Jewish comedy about two Jewish brothers, one ultra-orthodox and the other not at all even practicing, reconciling after the death of their mother. There is a part in the film where the two mistake a bottle of aspirin for ecstacy. I haven't seen when do we eat, but when I first saw the poster, it reminded me instantly of Zucker. The two characters also look very much alike. It would be interesting to see how a whole movie could be based on the idea of accidental ecstacy ingestion because that part in Zucker was only about 10 or 15 minutes.

It totally ruined the movie.

There was a sort of similar drug plot in the movie "Flirting With Disaster"......

"I Love You, Alice B. Toklas" has a scene where at a house of mourning, a son brings in hash brownies.

I think in the movie A guy thing... there was a part where the cook accidently puts drugs into the gravy or something and everyone gets high eating it! I know if that's not it it's something very close to it. But i'm pretty sure that's it.
