Please, explain to me, who's Yeti in this movie? A demon hunter?

Found on the movie's official website:
"Some people in India, Nepal and Tibet believe that Yeti is a guardian of the Himalayas. Others go further in this belief and say that Yeti is also a protector of Mother Nature; he is in charge of maintaining the equilibrium. He is the guardian of the frontiers between worlds of humans, gods and demons."
