Now I have only seen the original version, but from that I prefer the garden scene. What about you?

I know! It was all SFX! And the performances were awful. I think it's time for a remake with Hugh Jackman and Jack Nicholson.

Well, it is a very subtle and meditative film. I lump it in the same category as, say, Andrei Rublov or 2001: A Space Odyssey. To really understand the movie, you have to pay attention to what's not being said--a lot of the movie is extraneous filler for the sake of being extraneous; what's really important is what's between the lines. Take, for instance, the seemingly unrelated prologue and how it precisely foreshadows and mirrors the climax. Everything that happens in the final four frames is laid out in the beginning three, so when everything is finally said and done it's as though an unshakable destiny has been fulfilled by God.
I sympathize with your criticism, though. Some of the plot-heavy subplots in the middle were tedious.

Well, the garden scene is a must-see, but I thought that the blank screen which followed it really made a statement about the impermanence of the human experience, and almost has the edge.

My second favorite was when the dude with a white-ish hat looked like he was dancing off. However, I thought the plot twist with the girl turning around was extremely moving. I totally didn't expect her to go with him, but it turned out she did. It was almost frustrating how long it took for the descision to be made. I almost cried of joy when it finally happened, and wanted to shout "Yes! She's going with him!". Powerful filmmaking.

The best part is undoubtedly the man who was walking, he clearly had much acting experience, when he walked past the lady in the dress...wow. I was on the edge of my seat! what a cliffhanger to end the story!!
