The DVD is BOGUS

I got the DVD for a friend of mine who didn't finish watching it while she was out of the country. The DVD cuts out a TON of side story lines with some of the minor characters. It is a 3 double-sided disc set. I wouldn't have minded a 6 double-sided disc set if it included EVERYTHING that I saw when it was on tv. They cut out SO many moments with Rubí and Loreto - the whole reason why I got it in the first place, that dude was hilarious. There are other scenes (MAJOR ONES, to me anyway) with Rubí and Alejandro that are mysteriously missing. I don't understand why it was sold this way. It's bunk. There are some classic scenes that I will go back and watch on a rainy day, but I am seriously considering getting my money back....

This is true but let me tell you that "la usurpadora" on DVD is great. the cutting was done just right so you can't really tell your missing anything. but about the "Rubi" dvds, oh yeah, it was so *beep*. at least it still has my favorite seen when rubi walks in on Hector and Elena.

Dude I feel your pain. When it came out in 04 I hardly watched it cuz I was never home when it came on but last summer it was on again (I started watching it from the part when maribel goes to rubis house to confront her and Rubi yells at her "COJA COJA")...

Anyways I loved it so I bought the DVD so I could see all the beggining parts I never watched. Also I had gotten my brother and sister into it by the end of it so they wanted to watch it from the beginning too. I was so exited when I bought it... Then I realized all the good stuff got cut! I mean I love it still buy I was so disappointed.

They did cut out pretty much all of the other characters roles and stories. They basically only showed the main story which was only Rubi, and the men and enemies in her life.

I wouldn't have minded paying more or something for the whole version or at least a less crappy one

When "Rubi" first aired on Univision in late 2004, I didn't watch much of it at all. But it wasn't until after Rubi's mother who was played by actress Ana Martin died that I started watching this novela seriously. This was from Dec. 2004 to Mar. 2005. Although I began to watch the novela from that time, I always said to myself, "Damn, I wish I would've watched this from the very beginning." Before the summer of 2005, "Rubi" was released on DVD. I finally bought the DVD in July of that summer. Sure I was excited to buy it because I could finally see it from beginning to end and to see how the novela actually started. Although there was excitement, there was also disappointment when I bought the DVD as well. The disappointments were that the theme song "La Descarada" by Reyli was replaced with a different theme song and a lot of scenes and minor characters from episodes that I either watched seriously or took glances at weren't in the DVD at all. Hell, even the special that was aired as the continuation for Rubi that aired after the novela finished on TV and was added as a bonus feature on the DVD didn't have the ending but it was cool that the ending from the original version of Rubi from 1968 was included and also featured actor Antonio Medellin who played Alejandro's(Eduardo Santamarina)father in the 2004 version but played the original Alejandro in the 1968 version. Eventually I would noticed editted footage and characters in other telenovelas that I would buy on DVD after I bought Rubi as well. Now if a novela that I watched on TV is released on DVD, I always buy them just to see which footage was left in and which footage was editted out of the DVD version compared to the TV version of a telenovela.
