Racist

Just another anti-white movie. If there were as many anti-black movies today, there would be riots. This movie in itself is not racist, it is another in a long list of attacks on the white race.

Sarah has a mature, intelligent black father and white mother. Her boyfriend is an insane white man.

If this were the only movie portraying a white woman, black male, I would not have anything to say here. There is nothing wrong with 2 people finding love. If there were just as many movies where the black man was insane while the white man impressed the black woman, again, not worth mentioning.

There is something wrong with an industry which over and over throws a black man with a white woman, while the white man is either gay or insane.

Stop with the negative social engineering!
Stop building this horrid stereotype!

Ron Brown, I understand your effort to lead people away from racism against black men (more likely, your drive to sell more tickets) but you seem to be a racist against your own race. You are a traitor.

What in the HELL are you talking about?

You are out of your gords!
I, a white man, never picked that out of this film. I looked at them as people, OK mixed race people but even that is hard to pick up on in a negative way.

You sound as if you have an axe to grind w/Ron Brown. Did you write him and tell him?
Contact his agent, that is not hard to do with today's technology.

May Buddha help those filmmakers that know what they are doing!

while I agree there are alot of "anti-white" movies out there (actually I am doing a major qualitative study on a related subject for my dissertation)...I dont know where the hell you got that from in this movie.

What about the gay white guy? or the redheaded chick? or the red sweater guy. Not one of the 3 of them was shown in a negative light...except the red sweater guy is mentioned to work alot.

Oh, shut up!

Somebody's got to lead this revolution and I guess it's gonna be me.

This Postee seem to have a racist theme going on here..

Even doe I kinda see where he is coming from.

"It's 2006 already, take the race card out of the deck!"

Race discrimination is still the high card in our society today even doe it may look toned in your eyes it is still a big issue in the inner cities against working Poor blacks that can't land jobs no matter what degree of education they prosess.

It time to stop watching & hearing what they are saying about the positive effect the government has on race discrimination on the Boob tube & take a stroll down your local 9 ward & hear the stories on the streets.

There is a whole different version of discrimination that is put on Television/movies 4 your entertainment pleasure that you think everything is ok & racist is dead but it alive & thriving in the inner cities where you television/movies can't reach.

"I drive nice cars when I able to, I eat in fancy resturants when i can afford it, I live in a beautiful duplex & I have a Master degree, a Bachelor degree & a Business degree which I earn them all one by one. The question I lay onto you is.. Why am I working at Burger King??? Did I mention to you all I'm a Black Man". "Could that be a little reason then any to have a little bit of a hang-up in our society??? Or do I have to Smile & say yes sir no sir & take it on the chin???

What about rich blacks in the city with high levels of education? Can they get jobs? How would the employer know the highly educated inner city black person was poor? Why would they not apply for jobs outside of the city if there was some inner-city anomoly against employing blacks? A black person with a low level of education in the inner city may have trouble finding a job, but so may an under educated white person in the city, or anywhere else for that matter. The level of education is the crucial factor in finding a moderate to high paying job.

The fact that a black person can receive a "high" level of formal education illustrates a much lower level of anti-black racism is this country than was the case just 3 or 4 decades ago. Anti-white racists have the advantage of the media, most college professors and most politicians in their favor by being allies or too afraid to decry any actions or words from a person of the racial minority.

Most inner city labor/factory jobs that supported blacks and others are now gone. Global economics, not racism, is the cause. If the factory owners were racist, and presumably white, why move a factory to Korea or some third world nation? When the entire world is thrown into the available work pool, almost all Americans are overpaid by the law of supply and demand.

Cornel West"

Cornel West is a famous professor at the most prestigious university(Harvard) in the richest, most advanced country in the world. I don't understand the quote. How does he afford to live in a beautiful duplex, eat fancy food and drive nice cars while working at Burger King? Why did the racist landlord or real estate agent lease/sell him the duplex? Why did the racist restaurant owner let him in to eat? What racist car dealer/rental agent sold/rented him a nice car? Is this quote something he wrote 40 years ago, before he was established? If so, how did he live a better than average existence, financially, while working at Burger King? And if it's a decades old quote, not to mention one that defies reason, about the state of racism in the U.S.A.; why choose this quote as representation of the state of things now? Cornel West delites in racial discord. It's existence, and perceived existence, is his stock and trade, his bread and butter (eaten at fancy restaurants he reached by driving a nice car from his beautiful duplex). If racial discord ever ends, Cornel West won't have a role to play, a reason to be on t.v. or even an acurate sense of self. He defines himself by racial issues and the waves they make. He is more than happy to surf those waves to success.

All too many "leaders" of the black community thrive in an environment of racial unrest, scream fire where there is no smoke and rouse the indignation of blacks, browns and whites, who otherwise would be calm, in order to get their faces on t.v. They run for president when the pre-election polls show them at 2%, solely to gain puplic notoriety. They support their lifestyles and pad their egos by widening the racial divide. If a well known black person like Bill Cosby shows his concern for his fellow black americans by suggesting they stop blaming the white man and racism for the state of their lives and pick themselves up and determine the quality of their neighborhoods and futures, he is attacked by these same so-called black leaders and called an Uncle Tom or traitor.

Racism won't end until whites understand that blacks can be just as hard-working, kind, insightful, dedicated and just as they are. This realization is well on it's way in this country. Racism also won't end until black people look into the mirror and see a man or woman named James or Vanessa, e.g., who happens to have black skin (more accurately brown), rather than a black person who happens to be named James or Vanessa. The Cornel Wests of the world encourage the "race first, name second" identity mentality. They want blacks to be a part of the group, rather than individuals. It's almost impossible to make your living by being the "leader" of individuals who lead themselves. The fact that the phrase "black community" is so often uttered is an indication of the problem. One doesn't often hear about the white community or asian community or Italian community. If black people live in affluent suburbs, sparce rural areas, sleepy coastal towns and every other type of area as well as inner-cities, how does one define the "black community"? There hasn't been a geographical black community in nearly a hundred years. Black people live everywhere. The phrase "black community" is meant to divide people's loyalty by their skin color and is therefore routed in racist beliefs. This fosters racial discord from all sides. Racism won't end until black people stop buying into the divisive efforts of the opportunists that call themselves "black leaders" and white people reject the tacit guilt they feel about being white with which this country's media and public figures of all colors inoculate them.

You know, I just read your comment on racism. I just have to tell you that even though you say you have completed college and got your Bachelor degree and a business degree, you don't write like you do. You didn't need to tell me you are black - I knew that right from your first sentence! I know racism is still alive out there, but as far as trying to get a better job than Burger King - Maybe you need to improve your speech writing to land a better job! You sound like you're a black person from the inner city. Only thing you got up on me was that you were a man! I thought you were a black woman all along until you said "Did I mention I'm a black man?

Sorry, I didn't write to hurt your feelings, but just wanted to point out why you may be finding it hard to land a job you are surely qualified to do.

you have some serious issues...

I dont really see what all this has to do with a crazy guy and his half girlfriend, unless your offended that they wouldn't cast a whole black person, so to make it not seem racist, they cast a half black person?

Thats all Im getting out of that post...I think.
So to fully get this straight, your upset that they hired a half black instead of a whole to be with a white crazy man?

You my friend are very sensitive. I honestly think that's better than nothing; Im sure that the people who casted the movie weren't thinking like that.

first of all I'm white and I didn't seem to think the movie was racist in any way. The movie didn't once focus on BLACKS or WHITES or even mention anything about color if im correct..don't know...The movie's plot had nothing to do with race......it was more focused on the CHARACTERS as people not as people of distinct SKIN COLORS OR ETHNIC BACKGROUND....but if you feel otherwise, I would like to know more on how it is at all RACIST cuz I couldn't detect anything...

You know what's racist? Attempting to find racist elements in works of fiction (or anywhere for that matter) where there aren't any and then acting like you're put upon because you misinterpret something that simply isn't there.

This film never once got into the race issue because, I'm assuming, the filmmakers didn't find it relevant to the story. I don't know what film you watched but I certainly didn't get the "all white males are insane" from this film. That's like saying all white women are immoral nutbags who end up boiling bunnies when they get dumped.

This crap about reverse racism is moronic. There are plenty of movies and tv shows out there that portray white males in a positive light. Further, I don't see how portraying a white male as "gay" is akin to being insane. Being gay isn't a negative trait.

The OP's comment just reeks of stupidity. The fact that (s)he claims that black men are routinely paired with white women in films supports the fact that (s)he lives in their own reality. Interracial relationships are RARELY portrayed in films and tv. If they are, it's usually central to the story.
