Claptrap Description

"Julius and friends try to feed the poor during the depression and rellish the idea of a new communist state who they want to survive. After WWII Russia is no longer our ally so their political activity becomes treason."

The above is from the IMDb description of this film and is pure claptrap. Julius was convicted, not of 'trying to feed the poor' but of passing US atomic secrets to the Soviets. His 'political activity' was not treason, but espionage was.

This is how Stanley Kramer saw it: poor innocent Julius. But I and many others saw it very differently.

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg go from feeding the poor during the Depression to embracing the ideals of Communism. However, after WWII, the USSR is no longer a U.S. ally and the Rosenbergs' political activities become dangerously subversive.

A newer description of the movie. Please note that there is still no mention of their having been convicted of espionage for the Soviet Union.
