For the many who will not bother to copy and paste a link.....she was the sister of Robert Farrell Smith, who wrote the novel that the film is based upon.

LeeAnne was the oldest child in our family of seven siblings. Sadly, she passed away this last October when she took her own life after suffering from depression and anxiety. I miss her, and at the moment I'm mad at her (that of course will probably change by the end of this article.) After all, she was the "LeeAnne" in "LeeAnne, Matt, Julie, Bobby, David, Mike and Jeff." She was the oldest, quite possibly the kindest, and perpetually late. She was Mary as in "Little House on the Prairie," a bit of Pam from "Saturday's Warrior," and in terms of Brady she was our Marsha.
