Why aren't more animes made this way?

Obviously Gonzo had a big budget for this project, but this is one of the few animes that I've found to be so engaging, both in visuals, character development and plot.

Why don't they make more series' with this kind of finesse and attention to detail? And if they have, someone tell me what they are :O

Gonzo has still been puting out great stuff forinstance Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo & Samurai 7.

Gonzo has also made some really disappointing shows as well, but when they are on they are one of the best studios.

True, for one good one they put out five bad ones.

Yeah lately Gonzo has been a mixed bag.

Bokurano was excellent, right up there with Last Exile.

Kaze no Stigma was decent but the pinnacle of average.

Romeo x Juliet I haven't seen, but word of mouth is that it is terrible.

Seto no Hanayome was hilariously funny, I loved every minute of it.

Now it's Rosario to Vampire which is just pure fan-service, but the manga is pretty good. So hopefully after it's over Gonzo's next show will be good.

More attention to detail means it takes more time (and therefore, more money). They have to consider whether it will be worth it in terms of financial returns. This is all a money-making business, after all.
