Is the sequel series worth watching?

I haven't even started the first series, but before getting into it I was just wondering if it worked on it's own as a stand alone, if the manga sequel/interquel Travelers from the Hourglass was worth reading, and if Fam, the Silver Wing was worth watching? Does Fam involve the 2003 series characters at all and is it a good final conclusion?

Just curious how to view the whole thing and what peoples thoughts were on each element individually and as a whole. But no spoilers please lol.

It's not a direct sequel. It's more of a standalone series that happens to take place in the same universe, and it focuses on completely different characters.
