7.7/10 - And running for 12 years who is watching this bourgeois drivel?

Daytime television is without question dreadful.

This morning,Loose women,Jeremy Kyle, come dine with me etc are appalling, but at least I can understand their longevity and popularity amongst their audience.
They are designed to appeal to the stay at home mothers, the sick & the perennially unemployed underclass.

But Escape to the country is different, and I have no idea who it is appealing to.
Each day, a new incredibly wealthy (or at least comfortably well off) old couple are paraded in front of variety of mansions, expensive cottages and converted barns that 99.9% of the audience will never be able to afford even if they worked their fingers to the bone all their lives.

The fact that these people are being chauffeured around, had house research done for them and most probably had their expenses for these trips payed for by us the license fee payer is even more galling. For instance the couple who were the subjects of today's offering were ex pats living in Spain, so I wonder a: if they are license fee payers and b: if the BBC payed for their flights to and from Espana to be part of the programme?

So who is choosing these well healed house gorpers? and who more importantly gets vicarious pleasure watching them do it?

You are very analytical and analysing it more than I ever could do.
I enjoy this programme the most out of all the what house to buy programmes on tv.

It is just nice to see what is available in the countryside and gives you a better understanding of country life. I know i will never live in the country but it seems like a nice idea to. It is also a relaxing hour that takes my mind off the troubles in the world and the music is nice.

Im glad its on still, if it is, because I only seem to be seeing repeats of late.
