I saw Tarnation on cable (so i havent seen it with the directors commentry) and I really did enjoy it (minus the extremely long, continuous shots of text popping up on the screen)

I was left wanting more and felt the ending was a bit untudy. There were a few lose strings and questions left unanswered & up in the air.

The big queston being was Renee really subjected to rape and abuse as a child by Adolph and Rosemary....Jonathan seemed to believe so.

I was left with this overwelming feeling that Jonathan didnt explore the Adolph and Rosemary side to the story, he pretty much pigeonhols Adolph in the end and I couldnt help but feel Adolph wasnt given a fair go in the sense that it was never clear whether Renee was actually raped, locked up and abused by either parent.

After all Renee was mentally inept, is one to take her word literally?

he was filming as he went along
and he s probably kickin himself that he didnt confront his grandparents before
they died and went senial
but i kinda like the fact he was left not knowing whose side of the story to believe cause its just emphasises the grittyness of his life
