What was with that Italian guy?

When Samantha first met that guy in the restaurant he seems so nice and then at the end of the movie he wanted to kill her, what was with him?

I think he was an angel or a very devout priest that was trying to keep the babies from being born. He knew that they were the anti-christ so he was running around trying to prevent their births. I think the he was the hooded guy...

The "guy in the restaurant ", the "hooded guy" & the "monk" are the same. He is named as "Father Carlo" in the credits.

I'll try to explain chronologically:

The Gubers' are staying in the large house in Lakeview at the beginning of the film. They are patients at the clinic & (I assume) are under the same "treatment" as Samantha. (They mix the devil's blood with the embryo to reproduce the devil) The reason that the "hooded guy" goes after them is because she refused to drink the green liquid (that I assume will cause an exorcism) & she & her husband leave during the night. Because the "hooded guy" cannot let the devil's child be born, he must murder the mother.

We see the real estate agent take the cup of green liquid from the refrigerator & pour it down the drain when Samantha & Craig Howard move in.

When they show the monastery, the "monk" is looking for the vial of blood behind the bricks. When he discovers that it's gone, the monk grabs two lumps of hot embers & burns his hands. You see the scars on his hands in the hotel when Samantha is just about to drink the green liquid & the "monk" is praying (just before Samantha breaks the glass on his head).

Because Samantha refuses to drink, he must likewise kill her to keep evil out of the world.

The whole movie was very confusing & hard to follow. I don't recommend it.

What I also wondered was, if he knew that the clinic messed with demon seed why not just burn down the clinic instead of killing every patient and their spouses.
