Been going to Rush concerts (at least once per tour) since 1986. There are no really bad Rush albums, but here goes:
Feedback...a cover album, really? Geddy's voice doesn't cross-train well either.
Test for Echo...their heart just wasn't in this one. Pretty forgettable. Resist and Driven are okay.
Vapor Trails...some songs on this album play great live, but overall it isn't one of their best efforts.
Roll the Bones...A decent album with a couple of very good songs, but definitely low on my Rush list. They could have skipped the Rush Rap on title track.
Caress of Steel...an ambitious album, but way too over the top even for a progger like me and the sound quality isn't too hot. Once in a blue moon I will play the whole thing, but doesn't parcel out very well. I do like Lakeside Park.
Hold Your Fire...a pretty sounding album, but way too soft and synthed up. Still, I always like hearing Force 10 and Time Stand Still.
That's about it for the low-lights. If I had to rank their studio albums, here is how I would do it:
1981 Moving Pictures
1982 Signals
1978 Hemispheres
1977 A Farewell to Kings
1980 Permanent Waves
1984 Grace Under Pressure
1985 Power Windows
2012 Clockwork Angels
1976 2112
1975 Fly by Night
2007 Snakes & Arrows
1974 Rush
1993 Counterparts
1989 Presto
1987 Hold Your Fire
1975 Caress of Steel
1991 Roll the Bones
2002 Vapor Trails
1996 Test for Echo
2004 Feedback
