Why?
Why did they not use any scenes (apart from Toulon's suicide) from the first movie? not the death scenes too? and why when Toulon reads the names of the people does he call them wrong names? he called Rick 'Pete Gordon' and Elsa 'Maria'.

I think the film is trying to focus mainly on Toulon. I suppose other than Toulon's suicide, the rest of the original film doesn't quite fit into the more Toulon centered narrative. Neither does CURSE for that matter, but other than showing random death scenes, CURSE has no reason to even be referenced in this movie.
