For doubters, just watch Entourage

Anyone who thinks that Weinstein's treatment of Duffy was unique to Duffy, just watch the first several seasons of Entourage. Based on Mark Wahlberg's true life experiences during his early years in Hollywood, there are some fictionalized re-enactments with a Weinstein-like character who basically does the exact same thing to the show's main character. This kind of thing happens in Hollywood all the time - buying scripts without any intention of producing them, or shelving completed films - but fortunately for us Duffy and his pals had the foresight to document the whole experience. This is a brilliant and historical work that in actuality has little to do with Duffy and his supposed arrogance, and everything to do with the way that Hollywood abuses aspiring writers and filmmakers.

Really? I'm sure the Weinsteins are tricky and unpleasant to deal with. But Duffy's being a douchebag very clearly sabotages his chances--as a filmmaker, as a musician, as a human being--here. I mean, he claimed the documentary (which he fully cooperated with) "misrepresented" him when it turned out people were horrified by its personality portrait. But if it weren't true, then what explains his burning every bridge that might have led to his sustained success in the film and music industries? "Supposed arrogance" my arse. It's all right there on screen.

@unamerican You're missing the point. Overnight isn't about Weinstein's treatment of Duffy, it's about Duffy's treatment of everybody.

Duffy was such a douche that he made Weinstein look like the good guy.
