Kamikaze Pole Mounted Grenades?

Did Japanese soldiers really charge into US Tanks with pole mounted explosives or was this just made for the game? I know the Soviets did a similar thing with the 'Dog Mines'.

reply

Yes they did actually. I believe they where called lunge mines. Some accounts have them going so far as to dig a hole with an artillery shell, place a man in there with a pick and hammer, and then as a allied tank crossed over, detonate the shell by hitting the strike plate with a hammer and pick. The fact that they would use lunge mines during the invasion of the Phillipeans, though is inaccurate as suicide tactics where used during the later parts of the war as the Japanese started to lose ground.

"Latter part of the war"???
Buddy, the big island of Luzon in the Philippines was invaded by the U.S. Army in January 1945, which was in the latter part of the war. Luzon is a huge island, and the Americans used a lot of tanks there, and the whole island never was overrun by the U.S. Army. The Japanese Army was still holding our in the northern part of Luzon, in the mountains, in August 1945 when the Japanese Empire finally surrendered.
The very last land fighting of the War in the Pacific took place on Luzon and in China.

Buddy you should realize the part of the game being discussed takes place during the Japanese invasion of the Philippians in 1941 not 1945.
