Yeah it does have pretty dark themes in it, but so does Hunchback, perhaps even darker than Pocahontas. They could easily have the new crew of Englishman show up to dig their land and with them they bring heartless because of their greed. The story there could be about protecting the land.

It's not a matter of whether someone would prefer a different world. There is seeminlgy only one game left and I doubt they are going to fit in too many new movies in one.
They might as well do Pocahontas since they have done every other movie world of the 90's. I think the film is good, it was more of a dramatic/ serious turn for Disney, along with Hunchback.

The fact that Nomura is prioritizing FFXIII Versus over KHIII tells me enough. I guarantee you that a poll would show what fans/paying customers actually want, and it isn't FFXIII Versus. I think it will be, but one of the reasons it's taking awhile is because he's doing in game environment interactions. Like some things that would normally happen in a cut scene are going to happen in real time during just regular game play. Like you could be walking and a plane could crash while you're just walking through a town. Apparently, that has been taking up a huge portion of the development.
One of the reasons I think so many of the spin-off titles were created was because he felt bad because of how long it was taking. Birth by Sleep, coded, and 358/2 Days were all planned ahead of time. KH3D was kind of created because Nintendo came to him because they thought KH would be great for the 3DS. I don't think the story for 3D was made up on the spot because it's supposed to lead right into KH3, but I don't know what would have happened otherwise.
