is Oaks Christian where jimmy clausen and that knight kid for USC went? i think it was a name like that in Cali. What about that Metri Dei team in Cali i think a few years ago they lost for the first time in like 10 years or something like that

reply

I believe you're thinking of De La Salle of Concord, California, probably the most famous high school football program in the US. Joe Montana's son quit De La Salle to attend Christian Oaks in So Cal where he'd have a better shot at starting QB.

Prep schools like Oaks should not count because they recruit and offer scholarships. Southlake Carroll in the Dallas Fort Worth area has 7 state titles in 8 chances in the past 20 years and had a span of 5 championship appearances in a row winning 4 of them. Also a span of 49 consecutive wins that was snapped by the #1 ranked team in the nation. The incredible part is that they are mostly undersized white kids.

Well, I live in North Carolina and Independence High probaly has to be in the conversation at least in the form of best NC High School. Up until recently they had went on a 100 (give or take a few) game win streak, winning multiple titles. Now, I didn't go there, but I still gotta give props to something like that.

reply

I would say it has to be Southlake Carroll. Texas is just full of high schools with football tradition coming out the wazzoo. Euless Trinity, Converse Judson, Austin Westlake, maybe even El Paso Andress.

I would also throw out De La Salle and Mater Dei in California and Massillon up in Ohio.

Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth. 3 TAPPS Championships in this decade, some of the best coaches in Texas, one of the toughest summer conditioning programs in the state. But sadly we don't get any media coverage because we are a private school.

The best program historically in Virginia is Hampton High School. Winningest program in Virginia HS football history and several state titles.

/played for them as the token white guy.

Hoover High used to be up there...:(

Even though I went to Mt. Carmel Chicago and we graduated Donovan McNabb, Simeon Rice and a bunch of other College and NFL stars, I'd have to say DeLaSalle, Concord CA. They were a pure team in that their focus was winning HS games and not grooming guys for the pro's.

reply

Not to toot my own horn, but I graduated from Dolgeville, NY. Our program is has the highest all-time record/percentage in the nation for a public school, around 86% winning. Only 400+ game schools were in contention. The list was compiled a couple of years back. Not sure where it is, but it's online somewhere.

Mark the Dolgeville Blue Devils at the top, I suppose.

reply

truthfully probably texas football teams. we have so many. i can probaly say that out of a list of top ten HS teams, 8 would be in Texas.

reply

I can only speak for my area but I would go with Southlake Carroll, Texas. Also, Jenks High School (a suburb of Tulsa) and Tulsa Union. They have combined to win (i believe) the last 13 state championships in Oklahoma.

Southlake Carroll with ease if we are talking about in recent history.. Todd Dodge took that team over in 2000, left in 2007, and left with a record of 98-11. They moved up from 4A to 5A in 2002 I believe, and from that point until Dodge left, they went 79-1, winning 4 5A State titles, and their only loss coming in 2005 I think to Katy HS by 1 point. I have lived in the DFW area all my life, and was in high school through that time in the southern part of DFW, graduating in 07, and there was no one better than Southlake. I expect them to be the next HS football team to get a movie made about them.

Currently Louisville Trinity

I can't believe there is even an argument on this thread it is without a doubt De La Salle in Concord, CA. They went 15 some odd years undefeated from late 80's to the 2000's. Their Coach Bob Ladecre was nominated for an Espy award. They have won the most CA state titles and are consistently ranked number one in the nation every year. There is no question without a doubt this football program is and has been the best in the nation. There isn't any argument. When you can go 15 years undefeated (160 some odd games) which is the most in any sport in history then that alone shows you are the best.
