WHY DID THIS NEVER GET TO THEATERS??

This was meant to be J. Timberlake's film debut and I remember People chronicled the filming of it back in 2003/2004. Why did it never get to theaters?

reply

Simple. It sucks.

The revolution will now be televised. Sundays on Adult Swim.

reply

Because Justin Timberlake is in it.

reply

it debuted at the Toronto film Festival last year (a film that probably shouldn't have even made it into the festival) and it got trashed. I haven't seen it, but from what I hear, it's a dog.

it's just a message board. leave the EGO at the door before entering

I don't get why they splurged for all the ads on IMDB. It's only natural for an IMDB user to look it up out of curiousity and there isn't much here to convince someone it is worthwhile, to say the least.

reply

thats the only reason i'd be looking at a movie with justin timberlake in it. i almost stopped playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 05 when he popped on the screen talking about his "Hustler" character. damn you IMDB for putting me in this position

That dog won't hunt, Monsignor....

reply

LoL Glad I'm not the only one who saw him in TWPGAT05 on this message board...

reply

i hated him on that game it killed the game for me

reply

Thank you vincentvega Justin Timberlake shouldn't be allowd in a movie theatre let alone on the screen.

reply

probly because this is the worst piece of *beep* ever, i mean ll cool j and justin timberlake tells you the movie will suck balls, i cant believe morgan freeman and kevin spacey actually took part in this embarrasing film. whoever likes this movie should be put to sleep.

reply

Yet it has Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey which should tell you the movie is good lol.

"Rejoice O young man in thy youth"

reply

Not really, Morgan Freeman seems to pop up in anything. And while he's a good actor the movie he's in isn't always good. Same goes for Spacey.

reply

I had the displeasure of watching this film and everyones uninformed opinion that it didn't get into thaters because it sucks is absolutely 100%..RIGHT! JT did better acting on Punk'd! LL Cool J has one of the funniest "serious" faces ever in the history of anything, and seems to think that the way to show personal anguish is to stare straight ahead and NOT DO ANYTHING! Morgan Freeman is not at all good in this, but you can't really blame him, look he he's given to work with. Kevin Spacey's hair looks like it got caught in a permer possesed by Satan. Dylan McDermott is in it too! I'm surprised he didn't get fat during the making cause all that *beep* does is eat scenery whole while he's on-screen. Basically, what I thought the movie was going to be based on the title would have been better: a group of crime-fighting Super Nerds!

That was bad I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.! Very bad I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.!

Heck yes! I would have gone for that too!

Wait, it still sounds like a bad 1980's tv show concept. Nevermind.

reply

Totally agree with you syheaton. Unfortunately good actors do not guarantee that the movie will be good. Love Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey but this movie is almost unwatchable!

The teeny boppers who used to like Justin and N*Sync are now in their 20's.

This is not Justin Timberlake's acting debut. He was in a made-for-TV movie in 2000 called "Model Behavior". Note: the only reason I know this is because I work at a video store. Also, don't be fooled by the presence of Freeman and Spacey. This movie is pretty terrible. If you were to remove Freeman and Spacey from the cast, who does that leave? Two musicians, LL Cool J (who can't act), and Justin Timberlake (who really can't act).

Wow, I didn't even know this was the movie that I watched being filmed outside of my office building. One day, I was in my office, and the women were going nuts about Justin in our office. We watched them film a scene with Justin and Morgan right across my downtown Vancouver window. I was waiting for it to come out in the theatres, but today I saw it on my local video shop's website, coming out on DVD. I can't believe the movie never came out in the theatre, because there have been some crappy movies that have come out in the theatre. They could have at least tried this one and make some money.

I watched this movie yesterday....barely finishing it. I just can't imagine how a movie could go more WRONG than this on. Dylen M. is so over the top to be laughable. ALL of the actors in this (aside from Justin and LL) are pretty decent, they just didn't have a fully realized story to tell. With a name like "Edison Force" I half expected it was some Sci Fi Channel movie I missed at some point or something, ala "Eureka".....

reply

This is a laughably bad movie. Timberlake's high-pitched whine, LL's lip-pursing serious face, and the sheer quantity of stale dialogue mouthed by real actors like Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey. It felt almost like a movie made to show how bad musicians can act and how bad a cliche cop movie can be. (It must be a parody movie - the secret police task force is called F.R.A.T.)

Dylan McDermott is evil because he has a beard and wears leather and shoots hostages. There's a conspiracy involving high ranking officials, a chase scene punctuated by reaction shots of profanity, and a gunfight at the end where a flamethrower comes out of nowhere. It reminds me of the movie Bad Company (2003), another movie that offered nothing new, starred a hodgepodge of unrelated actors, and dull dialogue. That movie died at the box office and I'm sure the makers of this movie wanted to avoid the same fate.

That said, there were enough explosions, bloody shootouts, name stars, and quality soundbite quips from Freeman to string together a promising trailer. With a better title and a movie trailer edited together with quality musical score (such as The Shawshank Redemption or Gladiator), this movie could have made money, easy. Of course, if the makers of this movie wanted to earn money, they wouldn't have put LL Cool J's face front and center on the cover of the Direct-To-Video DVD.

it's in the cinema here in portugal....

reply

Yeah, when a movie is deemed too crappy for USA Cinemas is packed up and sent to countries like Portugal where is shown on the big screen and people eat it up.
