When did this movie become a meme?

This came out when my (future) wife and I were both 18. We saw in together and were baffled by how weird and unfunny it was. It's been an ongoing joke with us for years. Recently, our new friends (we moved to another state 3 years ago) have gotten in on it. It's a big inside joke with our little group.

But recently it seems the internet has latched onto Bee Movie and turned it into the next meme. How does this sh!t happen!? It baffles me. It honestly feels like the rest of the world had the same reaction my wife and I had and they are just now expressing it.

I know right? I thought maybe this film was still getting some hype several years after it came out, but then I looked it up and it came out almost 10 years ago!!! I could've sworn it's only been a couple years.
