I loved the movie but just a few issues

Loved the idea but let's not kid ourselves here

Just because it's night time for 30 days doesn't mean the town is shut down. No planes land? No people wonder why they haven't heard from loved ones for 30 days? No visitors to the town in that 30 day span? How do the vamps find fuel for their ship? How did that human steal everyone's phone kill all the dogs and sabotage them when he sticks out like a sore thumb

Yeh, Tucker from Flash Forward as a vampire servent. Sure. So much for any comedy roles since his childhood show.

It’s a strong film in many ways but I had a few issues with it..

1) The middle. I never got the sense of a month passing, at all. It seemed like a couple days had passed. A montage and a few extra scenes would have fixed the pacing.

2) Sped-up footage effect (probably high shutter speed, also known as the Saving Private Ryan Effect) I found they overused this during every action scene and it takes me out of the action because it’s too inflected. Just film the action clearly and without dicking with the footage to make it more ‘frenetic’. If you have to use it, do so sparingly.

3) Eben’s infection. He seemed to have a conveniently long time before becoming a vamp, which he never really did. Surely the infection hits the brain and almost instantly gets to work making you crave blood and lose all humanity. Other characters didn’t seem to have nearly as long as our hero. Melissa George took a great risk holding him at the end there - at any second he could have turned her face into breakfast.

That’s about it. A few alterations and this really good modern horror could have been a classic.
