The language the vampires speak(theory)

its my theory its some universal language reasons i believe this is every time they speak to a non vampire the people react as if they can understand it as if even though the words are gutoral and clicks everyone who they speak to react like they know what they are saying

What language do you speak? In the English language that I know, there is punctuation, capitalization, and the general intent to make sense.

Once I deciphered your rambling, I get the idea that you believe humans understand the vampires' language. I didn't get that impression at all. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

When movie hell is full, re-makes shall walk the earth.

reply

My friend, I feel your pain.

nobody seems to care about spelling grammar or punctuation these days its sad isnt it I went to the shops the other day and helped my uncle jack off a horse jeez I love football.

When I read posts like these, the voice I hear in my mind is that of a quick-talking Forrest Gump type, with a lisp.

Actually, though I have no opinion on your theory specifically, there really did have to be some communication. While every other scene can be interpreted in a way that doesn't require the humans to understand (the Stranger presumably learned their language), the part where the girl was put out as bait pretty much requires that Marlow (since he's the one she's addressing, so presumably he's the one who gave her the order) make himself understood. She clearly knew what was expected of her, and unless the vampires are a hell of a lot better at Charades than animalistic predators have any right to be, that means either Marlow spoke English or the girl understood the vampire language. (Granted, the little girl vampire spoke English but she didn't appear to be involved in that scene.)

reply

God, No God.

They know English, after centuries of being, they would speak other languages and it would be safe to think they can make others understand them when needed as well.

reply

It was a language made up specifically for the movie.

reply

If that's the case I'm not sure why the audience would be left out of the loop and only be given the guttural sounds of the vampires. That hardly seems fair.

reply

The audience wasnt - the vampire language is subtitled.

reply

I kind of interpreted it to be like the situation in Nell. The vampires have been isolating themselves for centuries so they've basically developed their own language but as one poster stated some like Marlow have picked up other languages and can communicate with the humans.

reply

Maybe they have telepathic ability so the humans understand them.
