Ryousuke's Reason for Quitting?

Does the Fourth Stage explain why Ryousuke has limited his time to one year (I swear the fansub I saw made it sound like he was dying)? Or is it not explained at all? My curiousity is peaked from what he said in the Third Stage, but I can't get my hands on the Fourth Stage (and probably won't until an official North American distribution is made) and this question has been churning in my head for a while now since I've seen it. Those of you who have been lucky to have seen it, can you please answer this question?

he said he will retire because he is "getting old" for this. this is because remember they owe a hospital so im guessing he has to take over from his dad.

No freakin clue, one would think if you're good at something you love it and keep on doing it. But alas, alot of stuff in this series doesn't make a great deal of sense. LIKE DRIFTING DURING A RACE ON THE STREET! Oh well, at least they've toned it down this season.

I finally got to see Fourth Stage (thanks to Live-Evil fansubs), and read the manga up to the most current scanlated release, his reason was explained to be because he was leaving Akagi to pursue medical school after his last year at the University.

Thanks for your help!

I forget which episode it was, but Ryousuke mentioned he hadn't slept in 3 days because of a medical paper he was writing. On wikipedia, I believe, it mentions that he was preparing for medical school and he will be doing that full time. This year with Project D is his last hurrah.
