Maybe you should rent it on DVD first and see what you think. I've just given up on it after watching one episode and I don't usually give up easily (it's not a movie, it's a tv series which lasts over 4 hours). The good actors are spread too thin and a lot of the characters are signposted rather than allowed to develop: the Head of the CIA is hostile and unreasonable from his first scene, the good doctor is an angel, etc, etc. Nothing very subtle here.
There are a lot of major roles and main characters, because each intellience service is given a fair share of time. Good scenes? Well, there are, but because it is one of those fast-moving choppy things, you can be sure a good scene will be interrupted by a not-so-good one before very long.
And why does Julianna Margulies keep getting roles? Is it because she can be relied upon to be exactly the same every time, regardless of whether she's playing an ambitious NSA agent or a drippy nurse? I know she's beautiful if you like the hard-to-please brunette type, but god she's wooden.
