Other shows comparable to The Grid

I really enjoyed The Grid, I thought it was really well done. I usually just read books and don’t pay much attention to TV series or made for TV movies, which leads me to the point of this post. What would people who enjoyed this series also really enjoy, and please try and keep it to this type of subject matter (counter-intelligence, humint, terrorism).

Thanks.

Maybe "The Siege" from 1998...

You should see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and then Smiley's People - each is a 6 hour miniseries - each is superb. I like the latter better, but seeing it first would spoil things in the first series. They aren't exactly like Teh Grid - but boy are they superb tales of international intrigue - with Alec Guinness and a host of wonderful actors. No one dislikes them, believe me. You can rent both on DVD.

24 hours obviously 1-2-3 and counter-strike the movie

Spooks (UK)
MI5 (USA)

Spooks is brilliant, although some might find it too slow compared to the flashy, full-of-explosions stuff that comes out of the US.

24 is one of my favourite shows on television, but the first couple of episodes of Spooks (MI-5) blow it away. I'm just starting Season Two now (it just recently came out here in the states on DVD) but it's starting out great as well.

I second (third!) the vote for MI-5/Spooks. It's better by far than any comparable American show, IMO.

Edge of Darkness (1986) TV series.

Another show comparable to the grid is the BBC's Spooks (A&E airs it as MI-5). But I would avoid watching it on A&E because the BBC devots the entire 60 mins to the show whereas A&E chops about a third of it to make room for commercial ads. Look for it on DVD or if you have satelite see if you can find it there on one of the BBC channels. I watch it on BBC Canada where it runs for 90 mins with ads.

Hate Spooks because the (makers/producers) think it is modern day, trying to be trendy/cool for it's own good and just crap storys and actors in the roles.

For me and I recommend to anyone else is reading the Jim Steranko's takes on Nick Fury: Aganet of S.H.I.E.L.D. Very better and far more superior than Spooks will ever be.
