New season taping TODAY

Went to the taping today at Harrah's casino in New Orleans. Very cool atmosphere. The audience was pretty small, like the size of a crowd on a Friday night watching a cool band perform at a bar. In fact, the audience members are seated at bar-style round tables sitting on stools, and the waitresses served free beer, so it had a nightclubbish feel to it. We practiced a cheer like a million times before the curtain came up. The wait was pretty long, but then Dave Foley comes out to do a mini monologue, and the players are introduced. When I went, it was mostly C-grade celebs, but thats cool. The most famous was arguably Mario Cantone the comedian. The whole time we can't hear the commentary by Dave and Phil Hellmuth. We have no idea what the hole cards the celebrites are holding, and yet we're encouraged to yell stuff out. "Fold", "All-in!", "Kick his ass!" etc. And the players aren't miked or anything so it's difficult to hear their dialogue, accept Cantone, who had crazy energy. We did get to see some of the between round dialogue between Dave and Phil though, like after a player headed to the loser lounge. Hellmuth doesn't seem nearly as polished or even as comfortable as Gordon, but I'll have to see the final edit to tell. Anyway, I can't tell you who won because they said said they'd hunt us down like wild turkeys if we told (just kidding.. partially). Cheers.
