Rise Needs Sequel, Regardless of Director.

The first movie was very dark, well acted and didn't rely on technological special effects to carry it. There was some things that could have been improved upon, like more story and some of the scenes were longer than they needed to be, but I do understand the intent. However this movie was a few ticks short of being as good as Underworld both visually and with story line. Shouldn't writers, book writers, screen writers, directors, producers and of course studio execs should see other movies in the genre, both bad and good before making a movie. I guess it comes down to doing your homework. Some do, others don't. Having said that, I think that this movie is a great vehicle to showcase Lucie Liu's talents. Yes, I know she has a pension for immigrant parts, and she has movies like Detachment and the others coming out, but I think she would be best in genres like this. She's great and could be among the elite. Unless of course the studios go for films like Serendipity, effectively turning her career into a 'be like all the other actresses' deal. Anyway, I vote for a sequel and would love to see someone really do a good job at making the film. I can see a lot of possibilities here for everyone to win.

This film was on SyFy last night, and I thought it was a great film. I didn't change the channel at all and was very excited about seeing it through to the end. I enjoyed the minor twist at the end, and enjoyed how fast-paced it was with Sadie offing the vampires. I thought she was very bad-ass. This film def should receive more airtime and publicity.

Too bad there was not a sequel. I agree that it would have been good. The way it ended it looks like there was hope for a sequel or maybe it was a pilot for a series. It might have been good but we will never know.
