What a film, a genuine learning experience. But I can't stop thinking about the maverick surfer out in San Fran that rode 45 minutes out to sea for 15 years straight, alone, and rode 30 to 40 foot waves that crescendo into fateful rocky land. That takes balls and for 15 years.

sharei agree with you but i gotta say that mavericks gets much bigger than 30' to 40' feet! there is a claim by legitimate sources (pro surfers) that the place has seen 100'ers, which means that mavericks may be the biggest surfable wave known. in riding giants they were focusing on paddle-in surfing at mavericks, so the waves couldn't be over 30' to 40' to paddle-in, but rest assured that people tow into much bigger waves there. see www.mavsurfer.com and various DVDs available for footage of bigger waves.
