Where Are the Big Wave Movies?

What happened? Did interest in big wave surfing just evaporate? Did someone die? I know that big wave surfing requires a helicopter to film, so there are budgetary concerns involved- did the money dry up? Was it 'in' for a while, then 'out?' Did the commercialization of the Bond movie turn people against it?

I know that expecting a big wave movie every year is a lot to ask, but, come on, one every 5 years? I'm jonesing like crazy here.
