I know one woman (whose name I cannot remember) was interviewed in Riding Giants and I was just curious if anyone knew any other famous or semi-famous big wave surfer chicks? Thanks.

Im pretty sure Layne Beachly has had a go at big waves.
Even though she sticks pretty hard to the tour.

Im flat out crapping my pants in anything overhead!

you just have to respect these people ... male or female for having the kahoonas to paddle into that stuff!

Layne Beachley did a few Hawaiian big wave tow-ins when she was romantically partnered with Ken Bradshaw.

You see some of the same names who had cameos in Blue Crush surfing the big waves, at 'Chopes', and elsewhere. Blackwater is film about 'chopes' which features toward the end the same women you saw as cameo, or even as players, in Blue Crush.

But none do it so dramatically as Laird. You could even see Jeff Clark on some of those waves, a long ways away from Mavericks.

keala kennelly is the first name that comes to mind. hell of a big wave surfer not just for a women but period. i know she has a few famous Teahupoo rides including, i believe, the biggest wave ridden by a women.
