Happened upon this

I was just channel surfing last evening when I came across this. It was either this or Rocky Balboa...well, sorry Sylvester. I did miss about the first 30 to 45 minutes of it, but it didn't seem as if I missed anything important except maybe the setup of characters. The movie was done well, though a really depressing portrayal of life. Although I'm not so sure about people not having the choices we feel they should have.
You sit and think "ok...what can I do, what's my gameplan?" Well, I'll use the money I'm making from selling crack to buy new clothes, normal clothes, open a savings account and store the rest, can't keep it on me, that won't last long. If I didn't finish school I'll live as I am now under my parents roof or whomever and finish. I'll use the money I saved to pay moving cost and first month's rent for an apartment in Virginia. I don't have much, I can carry whatever it is I have on a greyhound bus, that'll get me there. I'll use public transportation to get me to and from my job which shouldn't be that hard to land since I have a diploma now. It could be McDonald's for all I care, it's a start. And from this point I will take my rise in a calculated logical way from one stepping stone to the next.
If your telling me that the avenue to pursue this way of escape is not available then we should really think of who we are as a people, and as a nation. I always hear that the answer isn't as simple as getting out. Really? I did. I had legs, I walked to a bus station and left my home, met new friends in a circle I felt to be a positive influence. Started small doing telemarketing jobs and worked up to a bigger company. Secured a position and was promoted through the ranks, took courses to further my value to the company. If one is determined and ambitious...anything is possible.
