Why were there so many Australian actors in this film?

Anybody know why? Was this not an American production? I was surprised to find so many Aussie actors there such as Jason Smith, Nathalie Bas... and Sophie Monk, all of whom are quite famous down under.

Basically, because it was made/shot in Australia. Therefore, it was easier (I suspect) to cast Aussie actors in a lot of the roles.
