Yeah, it's hard to think Kirk Douglas would do something like that.. but, I've read that some people believe he was responsible for the disappearance of a hollywood starlet, named Jean Spangler. Google it.

shareQuite a few people involved in the making of Saturn 3 have stated that Kirk was a bit of a perv and had a perchant for being in the nude in front of people just to startle them - and the account of all this malarkey was not recounted in a 'ha ha' funny sort of way, but in a 'creepy, why is he doing this' sort of manner; his dirty-old-man schtick in 'Diamonds' (1999) has done nothing to dispel such rumors ....

He wrote in one of his autobios that while it was okay for him to be unfaithful (he called it "pursuing his biological right"), he didn't think that it was okay if women saw other men if they were already in a relationship. Actually it may not be that unlikely. I'm not saying this makes it definite, but when I heard it, my eyes widened and I let out a little gasp.
Around 2005 I was able to watch this movie again after not seeing it for years. When the rape scene came along, I grabbed my laptop trying to find if someone had answers as to who they thought "Roy Tremaine" could be and of course the most hits I got was Kirk Douglas. I didn't think much of it after that.
A few months later, I was up 3:00 in the morning and discovered on Game Show Network "What's My Line" and "The Name's the Same". I fell in love with those games, I started to DVR both to watch in the evening. On What's my Line, they always had that special round where a celeb appears and the blindfolded panel has to guess who it could be under the disguised voice.The Name's the Same version of that was to have a celeb on and have the panel try to figure out what occupation the celeb would LOVE to have if they weren't celebrities,actors, etc.
Kirk Douglas was the guest on one of those episodes and my mind went back to the info I found on him on Woods. Of course before they start they'd show the audience what occupation he would choose.........
He chose to be a wrestling coach for Vassar College. Vassar as in the then all girls college. A coach for their wrestling team. A sport that involves a lot of touching and feeling but most of all the fight for power and control. Tad creepy for me especially when his face lit up like a Christmas tree talking about it.
For the longest time I thought I was overdoing the thinking, but this whole Penn State scandal and the media showing interviews from the past of the guy saying how much he Loves children made me realize it's possible that a simple, action one day may seems harmless but the next day becomes completely disgusting. That episode is what comes to mind whenever I see something with Douglas now but like I said not definite but can raise eyebrows IMO.
